While we aren’t medical experts or professional pet trainers, we did take the time to do some research and put together some resources that can steer you in the right direction. 

Whether you’re thinking about getting a pet, training a new pet, or just trying to be a better parent to your pet, this guide is for you. Enjoy! 

#1: Professional Pet Care

Surely you take your pet to a veterinarian whose expertise you trust. All pet parents know to do that! 

But beyond basic health care, there is so much you do to give your pet the best life possible. We’re talking grooming, boarding, sitting, and so much more!

#2: Pet Insurance

You think of having health insurance, car insurance, and renter’s insurance as essential. But do you feel the same way about pet insurance?

Having a pet can be expensive, especially if they ever need emergency care. It may not be something you want to think about, but the best pet parents do!

If you don’t already have special funds set aside in your budget for pet expenses, pet insurance is the perfect solution.

#3: Healthy Pet Food

Any pet parent can stop by the store, pick up a bag of food, and call it a day. Expert pet parents feed their furry friends a healthy diet catered to their needs!

If your cat or dog has any allergies, food sensitivities, or other health issues, you need to take them seriously and shop accordingly. You can ask your veterinarian for their recommendations or dig in and do your own research.

Some pet food providers like Farmer’s Dog, Fresh Pet, and Open Farm make it easy to find the perfect products and even customize your pet’s cuisine for delivery.

#4: Pet-Friendly Decor

Strictly speaking, pets are animals. They eat, run, play, scratch, bark, pee, and shed. Even if they are professionally trained, your pet can still slip up and have accidents that cause damage to your decor.

Instead of expecting your pet to adjust to your style of apartment living, there are pet-friendly pieces you can purchase to prevent potential disasters.

#5: Pet-Friendly Cleaning Products

Speaking of shedding and staining, pets can make it a little harder for new pet parents to figure out how to keep an apartment clean especially during a global pandemic. 

Don’t despair! It’s easy to become an expert if you have the right products. Here are a few resources we found for you:

#6: Pet Entertainment

With a few good catnip toys and a nice place to perch, indoor cats can generally keep themselves happy and entertained. But dogs need a little more activity and interaction, even if their breed is perfect for apartment living. 

Whenever your dog is home alone, it’s important to keep them engaged and calm so they don’t whine and worry until you return. A Furbo camera, interactive treat puzzle toy, or a Relaxopet trainer could work wonders. 

Then, once you get home, take them on a walk around our beautiful community and go play on the agility course in our Bark Park!
