starting a new fitness routine in Little Rock

Getting a head start on your fitness goals for 2020? That means you’re probably starting a new fitness routine and we’re super proud of you! Thank goodness we have a virtual fitness studio and a 24-hour fitness center right here at The Pointe Brodie Creek, right?

But, as you may know, we are not exactly experts on working out. Luxury apartment living, yes! Health and fitness? Not so much.

That’s why we enlisted the help of our friends at Omnis CrossFit for their tips. Thankfully, they more than delivered!

Keep reading for tips on starting a new fitness routine from the experts who help people do just that every day.

#1: Just Start

Work, holidays, events, weekends…they all take priority in your life. You probably haven’t started working towards your fitness goals because you’re so darn busy.

But if you want to start a new fitness routine, all that craziness needs to stop now. YOU are the priority and YOU have goals. YOU are starting today. YOU are starting here and now. Just do it!

#2: Start Small

Okay, now that you are ready to run through walls and chew metal, let’s slow down, relax, and take a deep breath for a minute. The best way to start a new fitness routine is to start small.

Simply put, don’t take on too much at once. You’ll burn out quickly and give up before you really get going.

Just add one attainable exercise into your daily routine at first. Once that one improvement becomes routine, you can add one more. You got this!

#3: Set Specific Goals

Having a goal to get healthier is great, but you need to clearly define what that means to you. Why are you doing this? Be clear on your purpose and your timeline.

Try setting one big goal and several smaller goals that are very specific. Do you want to reach a specific weight or body fat percentage? Do you want to be able to lift a certain amount? Run a certain distance?

Write down your goals, assign yourself a realistic timeline, and stick to your schedule. Remember: Rome wasn’t built in a day!

#4: Have a Support Group

It takes a village, right? Sometimes, you’re not going to want to get out of bed and workout. That’s why you need to enlist your friends to help you or join a fitness community that speaks to you and your goals. They can help hold you accountable.

We love CrossFit for a variety of reasons, but mostly for this reason! A group of fitness friends can quickly become a family when you work out together and watch each other’s growth.

#5: Remember to Recover

Here’s the deal: We each have this incredible, amazing body that is capable of incredible, amazing things. However, we only have ONE (dun dun dun). You need to take care of yours!

You should never place something on the back burner that is arguably the most important component of a fitness routine: recovery. Win, rest, recover, repeat. You’ve got this!

Do these tips make you feel ready to take over the world?
