Are you feeling faint from all the hot weather we’ve been having lately? It’s only July, so you need to start preparing for at least two more months of this intense heat.

From drinking more water and conserving your air conditioning to eating more snow cones and taking dips in the pool, we have a few helpful recommendations that will keep you cool this summer in Little Rock!

#1: Watch the Weather Forecast

Little Rock is right in the heart of Arkansas, “The Natural State.” So, naturally, there are so many fun outdoor activities you can do to enjoy your summertime.

Biking, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, climbing, golfing…it’s all here!

But you need to be vigilant about watching the weather forecast before you head out on an outdoor adventure. We don’t want you to pass out from a heat-related illness because of extreme heat conditions.

Just remember to check the weather app on your phone before making any outdoor plans. Look out for any special weather warnings and pay special attention to the humidity, UV index, and “feels like” details.

#2: Stay Hydrated with Water

Keeping your body hydrated is also very crucial to staying cool on a hot day in Arkansas.

According to the experts at the American Heart Association, the best thing you can do is just remember to keep up with your water intake:

“For most people, water is the best thing to drink to stay hydrated. Sources of water also include foods, such fruits and vegetables which contain a high percentage of water.”

If you aren’t sure how much water you should be drinking, just talk to your doctor! Consult with your insurance provider if you need help finding a new doctor here in Little Rock.

#3: Snack on Sweet Treats

The sweetest part of summertime is just that…the sweets.

Don’t let summer pass you by without cooling down on a hot day with a nice popsicle, snow cone, slushie, or ice cream sundae. They just don’t satisfy your sweet tooth the same way in any other season!

Our favorites places for frozen treats are Le PopsLoblolly Creamery, and local snow cone spots like Retro Sno on Cantrell Road and Cajun Sno on Kavanuagh Boulevard.

#4: Manage Your Home’s Energy

Once you return home from enjoying the outdoors this summer, it’s important to manage the air conditioning in your apartment effectively if you want to get cool and stay cool.

Our maintenance team recommends keeping your thermostat set to a consistent temperature, even while you are away from your apartment.

According to the Department of Energy, turning your A/C unit off or setting it too high while you’re out could result in excessive cooling and unnecessary expense when you crank it back on and lower the temperature.

Remember if your air conditioning ever stops working when it’s above 80° outside, that is considered a maintenance emergency! Contact us immediately so we can service your unit and keep your apartment both cool and comfortable.

#5: Enjoy Our Community Amenities

Last, but certainly not least, one of the best ways to stay cool on a hot summer day in Little Rock is to make a visit to our stunning swimming pool.

It’s easily our residents favorite outdoor amenity here at The Pointe Brodie Creek, and for good reason! You can go for a swim through the deep end, dip your toes in the shallow end, or cool off in a poolside cabana.
